COACH HELPED ME GET MY LIFE BACK

I've been working with Coach Kevin for over a year now. I am the person who won't ask for help. I can do it all myself. Working with a trainer was never a thought.

Finally, after dieting, gaining, and losing weight, I knew it was time. Coach was younger and so upbeat I thought I would want to kill him. I was wrong! Coach is a genuinely great guy, and I love him as a friend not just a coach.

He has helped me learn how to eat correctly. I hated veggies! Now I have them every day! I had lost some weight before I started with Kevin, but I knew it was unsustainable. Coach helped me get my life back.

I had some goals I never thought were achievable. Getting below a size 40 waist in jeans. I started at 54, and I am now 38! I am now off all diabetes meds. We have reversed my diabetes!

I am a better husband and father. I did the work, but the coach had been there every step of the way. He had talked me off the ledge many times.

I have never regretted joining up with Coach. He is supportive and honest.

ONE OF THE BEST INVESTMENTS I'VE EVER MADE

A LOT can change in a year. Over the last 12 months, I have been on a health journey that has resulted in me lugging around 40 less pounds and gaining a newfound appreciation for living a healthier, more fulfilling lifestyle.

Here are my top 3 takeaways:

  1. Weight loss takes a long f***ng time, but sustainability is better than perfection. Patience is a nonnegotiable.
  2. Change in appearance is a benefit, but the difference in how you feel is sooo much more important.
  3. Sustainable results require lifelong changes. There is no such thing as "going on a diet" because that implies that you will go back to previous bad eating habits.

These before and after pictures represent a lot more to me than just losing some weight. The person on the left has lower back pain, low motivation, and terrible habits. The person on the right grabs life by the horns and is able to better carry out the activities that bring him joy.

I loved the framework he built around the check-ins and the support he gave along the way. Overall, man…He's crushing it. Working with him was one of the best investments I’ve ever made.

KEVIN'S COACHING REWROTE MY UNDERSTANDING OF FITNESS

When I met Kevin, I had never had an actual fitness coach before.

Once I purchased the program, Kevin honored everything he said he would and more. He actually educated me. He invested in me, earned my trust, and didn't try to sell me. He treated me as more than just a client. He mentored me, listened, talked through things, and simplified the process of keeping it off for life (I strongly believe!). He wanted me to succeed. But, also equipped me to ensure continued success. He got your money and utilized every dime to reinvest it all in me with priceless education in being fit for the long haul. That's rare.

Some of my achievements:

  • Hit 190 lbs!
  • Hit 11% BF!
  • Obtained 3 Phases of new workout regimens that were MUCH needed. (6 weeks phases.)
  • Obtained a new philosophy to fitness. Strength emphasis over cardio. Really liked this! And saw amazing results.
  • Skyrocketing confidence.
  • Had to order new clothes as everything else was too baggy.
  • Mental rewrite on my understanding of fitness.

Kevin's coaching rewrote my understanding of fitness. I teach in the classroom by this philosophy: "Art's not easy, but the process is simple!" And that's what he did for me. Fitness isn't easy; it's work. Hard work. "Fitness isn't easy, but the process is simple." You were honest with me about that, and it helped me turn a mountain into a molehill. It's manageable now, and with much less stress!

I LEARNED TO TRUST MYSELF AND LIVE MY LIFE, AND ACTUALLY ENJOY MYSELF.

My goals when starting this process were to

1) develop a better relationship with food and my own self-image
2) become more comfortable in the gym.

Before we started working together, I thought it might all be "too good to be true." I'd seen all the pictures, testimonials, etc online--but something just told me inside that "it couldn't be me...it won't be me."

So I was worried that I would put all of this time, effort (and money) into a process that would get me anywhere. I definitely didn't think that this dream would pan out.

I think the best way we were able to work through these were to start small, simple, and slow. There was some level of me feeling like I could trust you from the beginning--just because of who you are and, after some convincing, I could extend that to trusting the process too. So, as far as my "achievements" go, many of them are mental.

Yes, I lost ~40lbs during the process while also breaking triple digits on the weights I could lift on a bunch of things and even getting to the point of dead-lifting my body weight...BUT the biggest wins to me was that I learned to trust myself, live my life, and actually enjoy myself.

HE IS ONE OF THE MOST ENCOURAGING, SUPPORTIVE COACHES I'VE EVER WORKED WITH

Why work with Kevin as a coach?! Well, first off, he is one of the most encouraging, supportive coaches I've ever worked with. These were my biggest takeaways:

1. PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD is NOT something you guess or "wing it."
2. The SCALE IS NOT THE ONLY MEASURE of progress you should be looking at.
3. PERFORMANCE GOALS are fun! He really listened to what I enjoyed training and also incorporated some new exercises I found I really liked (hollow body holds!)
4. PLAY THE LONG GAME! Don't get caught up in the day-to-day weight fluctuations or maybe missing a few grams of macros here and there...think big picture when it comes to your health and fitness goals.

Kevin is the ultimate hype man. He has this energy about him that is just contagious. He will make you laugh, and he's so enthusiastic about helping you reach your goals. He definitely made himself available to talk further when I was struggling with scale fluctuations - which, by the way, are normal and are going to happen along the journey.

I also really appreciated the check-ins along the way (not just on check-in days). He genuinely cares and wants to hear how you're doing. Kevin also created a really supportive community as well, where everyone was encouraged to share where they were at, and participate in a step challenge and recipe idea swap. Thank you, Kev, for all that you do!  You the man!

AFTER TWELVE WEEKS, I'M DOWN ABOUT 20 LBS

Kevin was my coach for 12 weeks. When I first started the process, I was concerned because I really didn't know what to expect. I had never been part of a training program before. Kevin was great during the first session, helping me learn the basics of the program, and I really appreciated how he made sure his instructions were clear and that I understood them.

In starting the program, I had two goals: to lose weight and, get healthy and to be consistent in the program. I wanted to develop habits, not just do the routine. Kevin was great in seeing a long-term approach to weight loss. He helped me see that it is not just about the scales. Weight is important, but so are other measurements.

After twelve weeks, I am down about 20 lbs. I've lost 4 inches off my waist. I've had to buy new pants and belts, which is really cool. I am most proud of the habits I have developed. This started as a program, but it has become a lifestyle.

Kevin's best attribute as a coach is his positive energy and enthusiasm. He makes you want to succeed. The accountability of checking in with him every week helps you stay on target. I really appreciated his willingness to answer questions and give suggestions throughout the week and not just at check-ins. He felt like a partner, not a coach.

ACCOUNTABILITY AND CONSISTENCY ARE THE KEYS TO SUCCESS, AND KEVIN HAS MASTERED THIS.

I enjoy working with Kevin because of his constant positivity and consistency!

When first starting this program, I was feeling incredibly out of control of my own body and results. After I finished up and ended the program, I am now feeling confident in my ability to manage my weight and health!

With nutrition, my biggest takeaway is that consistency is key. Something I already knew in my head, but I really had this hit home for me during the program. Things take A LOT longer than you think they will, and consistency is the only thing that will get you where you want to go.

With exercise, I learned to focus on building (not burning) a focus on progressive overload" of the "same "boring" exercises. I had great results doing the same workouts week after week!

If you are ready to put in the work but need that helping hand of support alongside you, DO IT NOW! Accountability and consistency are the keys to success, and Kevin has mastered this. Plus, there is a focus on long-term results, not quick and unsustainable programs.

I LOST 20 LBS, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, I GOT OFF MY BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICINE AS WELL AS MY CHOLESTEROL MEDICINE.

Kevin is always encouraging! He would listen to my concerns or struggles and help devise a plan for me to get past them.

My mindset changed in how I view vacations. I now understand it's okay to enjoy myself and then get back on track with my healthier lifestyle after vacation is over. I used to go on vacation and live it up, as it were, and then stay in the mode of eating poorly and not getting back to my workouts.

With nutrition, the biggest thing is to stay consistent and eat the healthy foods that I know I should eat. Doing this promotes better digestive health and higher energy levels, too. Also, with training, stay consistent! I have learned to love weight training, whereas before, I did not enjoy it at all. I am learning more about what exercises I enjoy.

I lost 20 lbs, but more importantly, I got off my blood pressure medicine as well as my cholesterol medicine. If you are struggling to lose weight, this program is a must. Think of it as an investment in your personal health.

The combination of calorie tracking, coaching, accountability and exercise has been a life changing experience for me.

Starting - I didn’t realize just how much a snack here and a snack there would really added up through my day. Those small decisions could derail me in a hurry. Once that was pointed out, I could really focus on the fact that even though I may have not counted that calorie - the calorie still counted.

Getting into habits that I could sustain and maintain for a lifetime, not just the month or week, or even a year was a big mindset shift. I realize that this is a shift and commitment for a whole lifetime. This has meant, too, that the mindset of those around me has shifted - they know I'm going to make exercise a part of my weekly routine at least 4 times a week, and that creates a support group directly around me to support my goals.

I have tried numerous diets and plans over the last ten years. This has been the answer for me. The combination of calorie tracking, coaching, accountability and exercise has been a life changing experience for me.

The biggest mindset changes I have made are that there are no foods off-limits

My biggest struggles were primarily around consistencyβ€”finding time and motivation to work out and staying on track with food post-COVID, which was never an issue for me in the past. Working from home definitely helped and hurt thisβ€”I was very sedentary when starting to work from home and couldn’t go to the gym, often grazing with food. But it became a blessing as I do all my workouts from home now, and tracking food is second nature to me. It helps me know the sizes of food/consumptions.

The biggest mindset changes I have made are that there are no foods off-limits; I just have to work it into my overall calories (prioritizing my daily protein intake first), and that steps/walking is my cardio, and I don’t need to do heavy cardio to lose fatβ€”no more burpees for me! I also learned not to get hung up on the scaleβ€”I still use it as a metric, but pictures, your clothes, etc., are far better tools.

The only other thing I would add is that while I could have lost more weight sooner, I’m glad I took the consistent approach and that β€˜life happens’—the other path is miserable, in my opinion. Constantly mentally punishing yourself for going out with family and friends and eating or drinking β€˜too much’ instead of enjoying the moment and just picking up the next morning back on track.
